Do I really need a Doctorate?

As many of you know I have Master’s degree in Theological Studies and I was “pipe liner’ so to speak. In other words I went straight to college through high school and never stopped. My family size is huge and my wife has made many sacrifices for me to obtain the degrees that I have. Originally, I thought that I wanted the whole thing! But, then I thought, “What would I do differently with such a degree?” And for the last four years I can’t think of anything that would make me want to jump into such a program.

For one, it takes money. A lot of money that I am not too enthused about going into debt over. I mean, “why create another bill when I have enough to pay for already?” Earlier I stated that I would like to be completely out of debt within the next three years. And it’s a no brainer to know that going back to school would do nothing less than tarnish that true American Dream.

Two, I speak and write the Gospel (Good News). In all of my readings I never read about Jesus paying for any education that saved people. I know, I know it’s Jesus. But, I think that I will take my profession of Jesus to that extreme. Although, I don’t believe in schooling I truly do believe in being properly trained to lead people spiritually. Now don’t get me wrong. The graduate education I received was second to none and there was no way in the world I would be able to write papers like this! I just think that it would take away from my family life and the things that really matter the most in life. It’s not really certain that anyone would be hired as a full time teacher these days either. One thing that I am certain of is that I have the certainty to keep writing  and be a full time family man, with all of my children at the same address.

The latest I have been thinking of is planting a church on the East Coast; Lord knows it’s needed there. It’s just been on my heart that so many people are more into what they wear and drive as opposed to the real stability in life. When those two things are the priority, no wonder most of them are broke! I’m also working on a new book entitled, “What is God to an Unbeliever?” Stay Tuned!

I HAVE read the majority of all your books and is looking forward to reading the T.R.I.A.L. and now what is God to the unbeliever? I must admit I do truly admire a man who puts God and his family first; sometime we get to caught up in money. But with you putting God first I am sure you and your wife will make the right decision about pursuing your doctorine. MAY God continue to bless you both.
